The AP Jess Group

The family-owned, Scottish based A.P. Jess Group has a turnover in excess of £15 million per year. The main beef processing operation works out of the Sandyford Abattoir Plant in Paisley. The manufacturing and retail distribution for the group is done at McKechnie Jess Ltd based in Greenock, where you can still find the founder Archie Jess's original butcher shop to this day.

The groups cooked meat business is based at Charcuterie Continental Ltd in Twechar near Glasgow. Here they produce a range of quality cooked meat products; including continental sausages, roast beef, pastrami and pizza toppings.

A recent addition to A.P. Jess Group is Traigh Mhor Oysters operating as Isle of Barra Oysters Ltd. on Barra - the most westerly island in Scotland and a 5 hour boat ride from the mainland - at the southern end of the Outer Hebrides chain of islands.

With only 1,100 people living there, its amazing scenery, beautiful unspoilt beaches and being surrounded by absolutely pristine waters it was an easy choice for a place to grow oysters.

Our oysters are feeding on the abundance of algae produced in the cold clean waters of the Atlantic and will be ready to harvest in 2016.
